LIMEN - THRESHOLD

Threshold – that which is between two places, belonging to neither. But that which surrounds it, defines it. This project employs drawing, video and photography as agents for the exploration of liminal space, or ‘in-between’ spaces - those separations that can best be defined by the boundaries that describe them. The drawn line establishes a foundation for this work. Repetition of the line, or a line “bringing a friend”, as suggested by Henri Matisse “creates a volume”. And in the repetition of the drawn line an inherent rhythm emerges. As in music, it is the spaces between the lines, or notes, that give rhythm and definition to the final composition.
